Hiking Little Boulder

Instead of going on my usual Wednesday hike, Hailey, Kjarsta and myself decided to go on our own hike. A month or so ago Adam and I had come across a nice little hike about 30 miles away called Little Boulder. We decided to give that a try.

There is no need to explain why it is called Little Boulder. It was beautiful there.

When Adam and I came out we found a bunch of crawdads. I told the girls about them so they went exploring. We found quite a few.

The first mile of the trail is paved and then it turns into a real trail...with snakes and everything. It ended up being a little over 5 1/2 miles. Not bad for a woman who is nine months pregnant!

We found lots of cool things along the trail, like these mushrooms and lots of animal droppings!

I liked this tree for some reason...

Here is Kjarsta and I at one of our little pit stops! I am pretty sure that is just the creek reflecting on my face. I don't believe I have developed a skin disorder!

When we finished, we ate lunch at by the creek. Hailey made some delicious chicken salad sandwiches. She used pastaroni in her chicken salad. It was really good. I would have never thought to do that. We had a lot of fun and are planning our next blackberry adventure. Hailey also has a dehydrator for the next couple of days. I might go pick some plums and apricots and make some fruit leather. We'll see how ambitious I actually get!

Pie and Haircuts!

I made a peach pie a week or two ago to take to a dinner at some friends house. When we left to come home there were only two pieces left. Adam said, "I kinda wish you didn't make this pie for dinner because now we only get to eat half of it". He has been asking ever since for me to make him another pie.

Luckily Adam's mom, Deidre, sent us up some peaches from their tree, so I thought it was time for another pie. I was trying to think of some cute design for the pie, but couldn't come up with anything at the moment.

I decided to be ultra cheesy and make it an Adam pie, with hearts and everything. He was pleased and promptly ate a big piece. The best part is he doesn't even have to share...even though he has with me!

Completely unrelated to the pie, I got a hair cut this week. I know...my face is ridiculous in this picture. Adam said something to make me laugh right before he took the picture.

Adam didn't cut it this time...my friend, Hailey, cut it. You'll see some pictures of her in my next post. She is due today, but not sign of a baby yet!

Camping, Fishing, & Palousafest

Our neighbors, Matt & April, had the great idea of going camping last weekend and then heading over to Pullman the next day for the Lentil Festival and then ending the day with Palousafest at U of I. It was a big hit.

Here is April. April is always knitting...and she is really good at it. She taught me and Hailey how to knit the other day.

Andy was the fire-tender and tin foil dinner turner. We had 5 couples camp out and about 6 other couples that came out for dinner and games. We swam in the reservoir and then ate. It was a lot of fun.

Here is Matt and April. Matt was sick of the smoke following him, so he ended up on the picnic table.

Adam decided that he would rather go fishing than go to the Lentil Festival, which really surprised me with the way he loves Lentils! Of course my battery in my camera died. We went to the St. Maries river and fished for at least 6 hours. Adam has become a little obsessed. He did catch this nice fish that we took home and fried up and ate.

I didn't love the gutting part. At least I didn't have to do any of it.

It was pretty good, if I do say so myself. I am not a fish lover, but this didn't taste very fishy at all.

We got back in time to meet up with the rest of the gang at Palousafest.

We tried to take a cute couple picture....no luck yet!

This isn't very good picture, but I thought I'd post it anyway. The band at Palousafest was Joshua Radin. It was pretty cool, except the sound system stunk! Oh well. We had a good time anyway.

Blackberry Heaven

I LOVE Moscow...at least most of it! Our friends the Cahoon's and Jorgensen's let us in on their little secret. There is a little bike path about 30 minutes from town that is littered with Blackberries.

My other new friend, Kjarsta, and I went and found them. There were millions of berries...free for the taking.

Some were better than others, but they were delicious berries. Especially the big ones.

My greedy little arms got scraped up trying to get the biggest and the best berries.

I got a whole bucket full that was gone within days!

I made a blackberry crisp, blackberry syrup, and blackberry butter. We, of course, had to save some to put on top of things...like waffles (with which we also used the blackberry syrup). Delicious! Thank you, Northern Idaho!

I GOT A JOB!!!!

As most of you know I have been looking for a job since I moved out here to Moscow. At the beginning I wasn't looking too hard because I was sure that something would come along. Well...it had been almost 2 months and still nothing. It was kind of discouraging. Two days ago one of my new friends brought over an add she had come across for a kindergarten/preschool teacher. I applied that day. I got a call the next day (yesterday) and went and interviewed. Today...I have a job!

I will teach morning preschool everyday at the OASIS Early Learning Center, and afternoon Kindergarten enrichment. I am really excited about it. It seems like a great environment and great people. School starts on September 3rd, but I have some meetings to go to before that. Wish me luck!

Weekend with the Warr's

Adam and I are getting spoiled with all of our weekend trips, but we wouldn't trade it! Adam's brother, Jared was coming home from Texas for a while, so the whole family got together to celebrate!

Forgive the scenery shots...I just can't help it. Idaho is so pretty! Here is a railroad that we passed. We tried to get some good sunset shots on the way home, but we were 10 minutes too late for any great pictures.

Adam stopped about half way to Placerville for a little fishing break. Since we only had one pole with us, I took pictures! Adam didn't catch any fish...

Here is a shot of Placerville in the moonlight from the Warr's cabin. It looked incredible.

The next day we took a trip to the creek to cool off. There were several different modes of transportation. Adam and Madeline were on the 4-wheeler. I took the 100. Jared was on the dirt bike. Deej, Andrea, and Erika rode bikes.

Jared was popping wheelies for me. This picture was my favorite.

Adam, Madeline, and myself ventured through the creek. We came to this tunnel and Adam decided it was time for a break. I took a picture of his behind after laying in that, but I didn't think it appropriate to post!! It was quite dirty!

That evening it was 4-wheelin' time. We all loaded up and hit the road. Adam was sporting these goggles. Isn't he handsome?

Apparently there is something known as the "Placerville Express". Supposedly it runs every hour on the hour. Tonight it was running in laps every 10 seconds on the 10 seconds....All Aboard!

We headed to Boise on Saturday and hit the lake. Deej and Vic were kind enough to let us take the Harley. It was really fun. I might need to practice riding the 100 some more so I'll be ready for the Harley soon!

Here is a shot of Vic driving the boat and inflicting pain on all who dare to ride the tube...except for us girls. (He took it easy on us!)

Adam and Jared were the first to ride. They had some pretty incredible wrecks. For some reason, they think it is fun to turn around and do daring things while they are on the tube. Adam almost face planted it here.

Here is Jared during one of the many crashes! I didn't get a picture of the worst one, but he was definitely catching air!

Deidre was sure to get a lot of couple pictures of us! I think we're adorable in our matching U of I hats!

I only consented to go on the tube if Vic took it easy on me. I still have nightmares about tubing sometimes!!! He was very nice to us! I would even go as far to say that I had fun! I accidentally made everyone think I was terrified because I would scream a lot. I wasn't terrified...I just scream a lot!

Does this look like the face of a sympathetic husband?

Here are the Warr kids with their significant others...minus Rick. What a great weekend! Hopefully I can have a post about a weekend with the Bushman's sometime!!!
